42 U.S.C. § 6324 — State energy efficiency goals

A State energy conservation plan receiving assistance under this part on or after August 8, 2005, must set a 2012 energy-use efficiency goal at least 25 percent better than the State’s 1990 level. The plan may also set interim goals.
Each covered State* energy conservation plan must include a goal of improving the efficiency of energy use in the State by 25 percent or more in calendar year 2012 compared with calendar year 1990. The plan may include interim goals.
Each State* energy conservation plan with respect to which assistance is made available under this part on or after August 8, 2005, shall contain a goal, consisting of an improvement of 25 percent or more in the efficiency of use of energy in the State concerned in calendar year 2012 as compared to calendar year 1990, and may contain interim goals.
