This section defines "residential building" for this part of the law. It means any home that isn't a new building already covered by certain other standards, as long as it has heating or cooling.
This section is one undivided provision defining a single term. For this part, "residential building" means any building used as a residence, as long as two conditions hold: it is not a new building to which the final standards under sections 6833(a) and 6834 of this title apply, and it has a system for heating, cooling, or both.
As used in this part, the term “residential building” means any building used as a residence which is not a new building to which final standards under sections 6833(a) and 6834 1 of this title apply and which has a system for heating, cooling, or both.
