States running this energy assistance program can buy renewable fuels for eligible households. This includes biomass fuel. The same rule applies to anyone the state partners with to run the program.
When a state* provides home energy* assistance under this program, it's allowed to purchase renewable fuels for that assistance — including biomass. This same permission extends to anyone else the state arranges to work with in carrying out the program's purposes, not just the state government itself.
In providing assistance pursuant to this subchapter, a State*, or any other person with which the State makes arrangements to carry out the purposes of this subchapter, may purchase renewable fuels, including biomass.
