The Commission may appoint an executive director and needed employees. Members receive travel expenses on the same basis as people serving intermittently in government.
(a) The Commission may appoint an executive director without applying chapter 51 of title 5. The Chairman may appoint other employees needed to carry out this chapter.
(b) Members must receive travel expenses, including a daily allowance instead of subsistence, in the same amount and to the same extent allowed to people serving intermittently in government under section 5703 of title 5, United States Code.
The Commission may appoint, without reference to chapter 51 of title 5, an executive director. The Chairman may appoint such other employees as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of this chapter.
Members of the Commission shall be allowed travel expenses (including per diem allowance in lieu of subsistence) in the same amount and to the same extent as persons serving intermittently in the Government service are allowed travel expenses under section 5703 of title 5, United States Code.
