A boat's number must be painted or attached to both sides of its front half. The Secretary sets its size, color, and style. No other number may appear on that same part of the boat.
A number issued under this chapter must be painted on or attached to each side of the front half of the boat it was issued for. Its size, color, and type must follow whatever the Secretary prescribes. No other number can appear on that front half of the boat.
A number required by this chapter shall be painted on, or attached to, each side of the forward half of the vessel* for which it was issued, and shall be the size, color, and type as may be prescribed by the Secretary. No other number may be carried on the forward half of the vessel.
