46 U.S.C. § 30106 — Time limit on bringing maritime action for personal injury or death

This law sets a deadline for maritime injury lawsuits. Unless another law says otherwise, someone must sue within three years of the injury or death.
Unless another law sets a different rule, a person must bring a civil lawsuit for damages arising from a maritime tort — a wrongful injury or death connected to maritime activity — within 3 years after the claim arose.
Except as otherwise provided by law, a civil action for damages for personal injury or death arising out of a maritime tort must be brought within 3 years after the cause of action arose.
