46 U.S.C. § 31109 — Payment of judgment or settlement

A federal accounting officer must pay any final judgment, arbitration award, or settlement made under this chapter. Payment happens once an authenticated copy is presented. The money comes from Treasury funds set aside for this purpose.
This is a single payment rule. Once someone presents an authenticated copy of a final judgment, arbitration award, or settlement made under this chapter, the proper accounting officer of the United States must pay it. The payment comes out of money in the Treasury that has been appropriated specifically for that purpose.
The proper accounting officer of the United States shall pay a final judgment, arbitration award, or settlement under this chapter on presentation of an authenticated copy. Payment shall be made from any money in the Treasury appropriated for the purpose.
