49 U.S.C. § 13502 — Exempt transportation between Alaska and other States

This section applies when a motor carrier transports passengers or property between a place in Alaska and a place in another state, and part of that transportation passes through a foreign country, as covered under section 13501. (1) Neither the Secretary nor the Board can require the motor carrier to follow a rule for its conduct inside the foreign country if that rule would conflict with that country's own requirements. (2) But as a condition of providing transportation in the United States, the motor carrier must still follow this part's rules on rates and practices for all of the transportation between Alaska and the other state — including the part that passes through the foreign country.
