49 U.S.C. § 44814 — ASSUREd Safe credentialing authority

(a) In General. Within 6 months of this section becoming law, the FAA must set up a credentialing authority, called "ASSUREd Safe" in this section, as the program of record under the Center of Excellence for Unmanned Aircraft Systems. (b) Purposes. ASSUREd Safe must offer services across the United States, and to U.S. allies and partners, including (1) online and in-person standards, education, and testing for first responders using drones during emergencies and disasters; (2) uniform communication, operational, and reporting standards shared among civilian, military, and international partners; and (3) any other standards development related to drone operations that the FAA decides is appropriate. (c) Coordination. The FAA must make sure the Center of Excellence for Unmanned Aircraft Systems coordinates with the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Federal Emergency Management Agency when setting up ASSUREd Safe, and on any services ASSUREd Safe offers.
