54 U.S.C. § 103101 — Availability and use of appropriations

(a) Credits of Receipts for Meals and Quarters Furnished Federal Government Employees in the Field.— Cash payments and payroll deductions collected for meals and housing the Service^* provides to federal employees in the field, and to cooperating agencies, can be credited back to the current budget for running the System unit^* where those meals or housing were provided.

(b) Availability for Expense of Recording Donated Land.— Service appropriations can pay for the costs of preparing and recording title paperwork for land donated to the United States for the Service to manage.

(c) Use of Funds for Law Enforcement and Emergencies.— (1) With the Secretary's approval, the Service can spend up to $500,000 per incident to keep law and order during emergencies or unexpected law enforcement problems, and to run emergency search and rescue operations in the System^*. (2) If the Secretary^* spends money this way, that money must be replaced through a supplemental appropriation, which the Secretary must request as soon as possible.

(d) Contribution for Annuity Benefits.— (1) Money is automatically appropriated to reimburse the District of Columbia each month for benefits it pays to United States Park Police retirees, under the 1957 Policemen and Firemen's Retirement and Disability Act amendments. This applies to the extent those payments are more than what active Park Police members contributed under that Act. (2) Regular Service appropriations cannot be used for this reimbursement.

(e) Waterproof Footwear.— Service equipment funds can buy waterproof footwear, which counts and is listed as System equipment.
