54 U.S.C. § 103502 — Signature projects and programs

This section directs the Secretary to list Centennial Challenge Fund projects. The Secretary must create a list of eligible signature projects and send it to relevant congressional committees. Deferred maintenance and trail projects get top priority, and the list can be updated over time.
(a) List.— The Secretary* must (1) create a list of signature projects and programs eligible for funding from the National Park Centennial Challenge Fund; (2) send that list to the Senate Appropriations and Energy and Natural Resources Committees, and to the House Appropriations and Natural Resources Committees; and (3) give top priority to deferred maintenance projects, physical improvements to visitor facilities, and trail maintenance.
(b) Updates.— The Secretary may add new signature projects or programs to the list whenever the Secretary finds it appropriate, and must give notice of any addition as required in (a).
The Secretary* shall—
develop a list of signature projects and programs eligible for funding from the National Park Centennial Challenge Fund;
submit the list developed pursuant to paragraph (1) to the Committees on Appropriations and Energy and Natural Resources in the United States Senate, and to the Committees on Appropriations and Natural Resources in the House of Representatives; and
prioritize deferred maintenance projects, physical improvements to visitor services facilities and trail maintenance.
The Secretary may, from time to time, as the Secretary finds appropriate, add any signature project or program to the list and provide notice of such addition as required by subsection (a).
