6 U.S.C. § 244 — Maritime security capabilities assessments

This section requires an annual report on maritime resources. Within 180 days after October 5, 2018, and then every year after that, the Secretary must submit an assessment to four congressional committees: the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee; the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee; the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee; and the House Homeland Security Committee. The assessment must estimate the number and type of maritime assets, such as boats or aircraft, and the number of personnel the Department needs. The goal is to figure out what's needed to raise the Department's maritime response rate, as required under section 223 of this title.
