6 U.S.C. § 244 — Maritime security capabilities assessments

This section requires an annual report on maritime resources.

Within 180 days after October 5, 2018, and then every year after that, the Secretary^* must submit an assessment to four congressional committees: the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee; the Senate Homeland^* Security and Governmental Affairs Committee; the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee; and the House Homeland Security Committee.

The assessment must estimate the number and type of maritime assets^*, such as boats or aircraft, and the number of personnel the Department^* needs. The goal is to figure out what's needed to raise the Department's maritime response rate, as required under section 223 of this title.
