6 U.S.C. § 361 — Office for State and Local Government Coordination

(a) Establishment This section creates the Office for State and Local Government Coordination, inside the Office of the Secretary, to oversee and coordinate the Department's programs and relationships with state and local governments. (b) Responsibilities This Office must: (1) coordinate all Department activities relating to state and local government; (2) assess what resources state and local governments need to carry out the national anti-terrorism strategy, and advocate for those resources; (3) give state and local governments regular information, research, and technical support to help them secure the homeland; and (4) create a process for collecting useful input from state and local governments, to help shape the national anti-terrorism strategy and other homeland-security work.
