6 U.S.C. § 361 — Office for State and Local Government Coordination

(a) Establishment
This section creates the Office for State^* and Local Government^* Coordination, inside the Office of the Secretary^*, to oversee and coordinate the Department's programs and relationships with state and local governments.

(b) Responsibilities
This Office must: (1) coordinate all Department^* activities relating to state and local government; (2) assess what resources state and local governments need to carry out the national anti-terrorism strategy, and advocate for those resources; (3) give state and local governments regular information, research, and technical support to help them secure the homeland^*; and (4) create a process for collecting useful input from state and local governments, to help shape the national anti-terrorism strategy and other homeland-security work.
