This chapter doesn't change the National Institute of Standards and Technology's authority. It also doesn't change the Department of Commerce's authority. That authority covers developing and issuing certain standards or guidelines.
This section protects existing authority from being changed by this chapter.
Nothing in this chapter, and nothing in any amendment this chapter makes, affects the authority the National Institute of Standards and Technology or the Department* of Commerce already has. Specifically, it preserves their authority to develop and promulgate — meaning issue and put into effect — standards or guidelines under paragraphs (1) and (2) of section 278g–3(a) of title 15. That authority stays exactly as it was before this chapter.
Nothing in this chapter, or the amendments made by this chapter, affects the authority of the National Institute of Standards and Technology or the Department* of Commerce relating to the development and promulgation of standards or guidelines under paragraphs (1) and (2) of section 278g–3(a) of title 15.
