7 U.S.C. § 5311a — Joint nutrition monitoring and related research activities

The Secretary and the Health and Human Services Secretary must jointly continue the national nutrition monitoring and related research^* activities existing when this Act was enacted. They must: (1) continually collect dietary, health, physical-activity, and diet-and-health-knowledge data from a nationally representative sample; (2) periodically collect data on special at-risk populations identified by the Secretaries^*; (3) timely give the public information about health, nutrition, the environment, and physical activity; (4) analyze newly available data; (5) continually update food-composition tables; and (6) research and develop data-collection methods and standards.
