3 U.S.C. § 7 — Meeting and vote of electors
submitted 78 years ago by ch. 644 to r/title-3-THE-PRESIDENT · 49 words · no verdicts yet
Presidential electors in each state must meet and vote on a set day. That day is the first Tuesday after the second Wednesday in December, right after they're appointed. They meet at the place set by that state's pre-election-day law.
In every state, the electors chosen to cast that state's votes for President and Vice President must meet and vote on a specific date: the first Tuesday after the second Wednesday in December, following their appointment.
They meet at the place set by that state's own laws — specifically, the laws that were already in place before election day, not any law passed afterward.
The electors of President and Vice President of each State shall meet and give their votes on the first Tuesday after the second Wednesday in December next following their appointment at such place in each State in accordance with the laws of the State enacted prior to election day.
