42 U.S.C. § 4362 — Interagency cooperation on prevention of environmental cancer and heart and lung disease

(a) Within three months after August 7, 1977, a Task Force on Environmental Cancer and Heart and Lung Disease must be established. It includes representatives of EPA, the National Cancer Institute, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, and the National Institute on Environmental Health Sciences. The Administrator chairs it or designates the chair. (b) The Task Force must (1) recommend research to measure the relationship between environmental pollution and human cancer and heart and lung disease; (2) recommend strategies to reduce or eliminate related disease risks; (3) recommend research and other measures to prevent or reduce environmentally related cancer and heart and lung disease; (4) coordinate research and promote cooperation among EPA, Health and Human Services, and other suitable agencies; and (5) report to Congress within one year after August 7, 1977, and annually afterward, on problems and progress under this section.
