54 U.S.C. § 101337 — Leasing of seasonal employee quarters

(a) General Authority. The Secretary may lease quarters at or near a System unit to use as seasonal housing for field employees. This is allowed only if the Secretary finds there's a shortage of adequate, affordable seasonal quarters near the unit, and either (1) the need for the housing is temporary, or (2) leasing would cost less than building new seasonal quarters. (b) Rent. The rent charged to field employees under the lease must be based on the reasonable value of the quarters, following the requirements of section 5911 of title 5. (c) Unrecovered Costs. If leasing the seasonal quarters costs more than the rent collected, the Secretary may pay the difference out of that year's annual appropriations.
