Unless this chapter says otherwise, a list of general military retirement laws apply to Space Force members the same way they apply to comparable Air Force members, matching officers to officers, enlisted to enlisted, regular duty to sustained duty, and reserve status to space force active status not on sustained duty.
(a) Applicability to Members of the Space Force. Except where this chapter specifically says otherwise, the laws listed in (b) apply to Space Force members as follows:
(1) Rules for an Air Force officer* apply to a Space Force officer.
(2) Rules for an enlisted Air Force member apply to an enlisted Space Force member.
(3) Rules for a regular officer apply to a Space Force officer on sustained duty*.
(4) Rules for a regular enlisted member* apply to a Space Force enlisted member on sustained duty.
(5) Rules for a reserve officer apply to a Space Force officer in space force active status* but not on sustained duty.
(6) Rules for a reserve enlisted member apply to a Space Force enlisted member in space force active status* but not on sustained duty.
(7) Rules for service in a regular component apply to sustained duty.
(8) Rules for service in a reserve component apply to space force active status not on sustained duty.
(9) Rules for a Ready Reserve member apply to a Space Force member in space force active status before being ordered to active duty*.
(10) Rules for a Retired Reserve member apply to a Space Force member retired under chapter 1223.
(b) Provisions of Law. The laws referred to above are: chapter 61 (retirement or separation for physical disability); chapter 63 (retirement for age); chapter 69 (retired grade*); chapter 71 (computing retired pay*); chapter 941 (Air Force retirement for length of service); chapter 945 (computing retired pay); chapter 1223 (retired pay for non-regular service); and chapter 1225 (retired grade).
Except as specifically provided for by this chapter, the provisions of this title specified in subsection (b) apply to members of the Space Force as follows:
Provisions pertaining to an officer* of the Air Force shall apply to an officer of the Space Force.
Provisions pertaining to an enlisted member* of the Air Force shall apply to an enlisted member of the Space Force.
Provisions pertaining to a regular officer shall apply to an officer who is on sustained duty* in the Space Force.
Provisions pertaining to a regular enlisted member shall apply to an enlisted member who is on sustained duty in the Space Force.
Provisions pertaining to a reserve officer shall apply to an officer who is in a space force active status* but not on sustained duty.
Provisions pertaining to a reserve enlisted member shall apply to an enlisted member who is in a space force active status* but not on sustained duty.
Provisions pertaining to service in a regular component shall apply to service on sustained duty.
Provisions pertaining to service in a reserve component shall apply to service in a space force active status not on sustained duty.
Provisions pertaining to a member of the Ready Reserve shall apply to a member of the Space Force who is in a space force active status prior to being ordered to active duty*.
Provisions pertaining to a member of the Retired Reserve shall apply to a member of the Space Force who has retired under chapter 1223 of this title.
The provisions of this title referred to in subsection (a) are the following:
Chapter 61, relating to retirement or separation for physical disability.
Chapter 63, relating to retirement for age.
Chapter 69, relating to retired grade*.
Chapter 71, relating to computation of retired pay*.
Chapter 941, relating to retirement from the Air Force for length of service.
Chapter 945, relating to computation of retired pay.
Chapter 1223, relating to retired pay for non-regular service.
Chapter 1225, relating to retired grade.
