The Secretary of Energy may make international agreements for timely and accurate nuclear forensic data collection and analysis. The agreements require specified national-security officials’ involvement.
With the Secretary of State’s agreement and in coordination with the Secretaries of Defense and Homeland Security and the Director of National Intelligence, the Secretary of Energy may enter agreements with countries or international organizations. The agreements may support data collection and analysis to identify accurately and quickly the source of components of, or fissile material used or attempted to be used in, a nuclear device or weapon.
The Secretary of Energy may, with the concurrence of the Secretary of State and in coordination with the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and the Director of National Intelligence, enter into agreements with countries or international organizations to conduct data collection and analysis to determine accurately and in a timely manner the source of any components of, or fissile material used or attempted to be used in, a nuclear device or weapon.
