10 U.S.C. § 6158 — International agreements on information on radioactive materials

With the Secretary of State’s agreement and in coordination with the Secretaries of Defense and Homeland Security and the Director of National Intelligence, the Secretary of Energy may agree with countries or international organizations (1) to obtain validated information for the Department’s materials information program about the physical characteristics of radioactive material produced, used, or stored at different locations, so sources of nuclear-device components or fissile material can be identified accurately and promptly; and (2) to obtain access to that information after (A) a nuclear detonation or (B) interception or discovery of a nuclear device, weapon, or nuclear material.
