10 U.S.C. § 7447 — Cadets; nominees: effect of redistricting of States

If a state redraws its districts, a cadet's home district can change. The cadet is then counted toward the new district's cadet total instead. That new district's normal cadet count goes up by one to cover it.
If a state's redistricting moves the home of a cadet, or of a nominee a Representative nominated, into a congressional district different from the one that nominated them, the cadet is now counted as belonging to that new district. To make room, the number of cadets normally allowed for that district goes up by one to include this person. But if the person never becomes a cadet, or is finally separated from the Academy, that increased number goes back down by one.
If as a result of redistricting a State the domicile of a cadet, or a nominee, nominated by a Representative falls within a congressional district other than that from which he was nominated, he is charged to the district in which his domicile so falls. For this purpose, the number of cadets otherwise authorized for that district is increased to include him. However, the number as so increased is reduced by one if he fails to become a cadet or when he is finally separated from the Academy.
