submitted 70 years ago by ch. 1041 to r/title-10-ARMED-FORCES · 133 words · no verdicts yet

in plain englishAI-generated · not legal advice

The Secretary of the Army may set the amount credited to a new cadet for initial clothing and equipment. The amount comes out of the cadet’s pay, and certain unpaid amounts are handled when the cadet leaves.

(a) The Secretary of the Army may set the amount credited to a cadet when first admitted to the Academy for the cost of the cadet’s first clothing and equipment. The Academy deducts that amount from the cadet’s pay. If the cadet is discharged before graduating while owing the United States for money advanced to buy required clothing and equipment, the cadet must turn in enough distinctive military clothing and equipment to repay the advance. If those items are not worth enough to cover the debt, the debt is canceled. (b) Under rules set by the Secretary, the Academy must provide uniforms and equipment to a cadet who asks for them.

(a)

The Secretary of the Army may prescribe the amount to be credited to a cadet, upon original admission to the Academy, for the cost of his initial issue of clothing and equipment. If the value of the clothing and equipment turned in does not cover the amount owed, the indebtedness shall be canceled.

(b)

Under such regulations as the Secretary may prescribe, uniforms and equipment shall be furnished to a cadet at the Academy upon his request.
