This section allows the Secretary of the Army, on the Surgeon General’s recommendation, to replace clothing destroyed to prevent contagion.
On the Surgeon General’s recommendation, the Secretary of the Army* may order free clothing for an enlisted Army member who had a contagious disease and for a hospital attendant who cared for that member during the disease. The clothing replaces clothing destroyed on a Medical Corps officer’s order to prevent contagion.
Upon the recommendation of the Surgeon General, the Secretary of the Army* may order a gratuitous issue of clothing to any enlisted member* of the Army who has had a contagious disease, and to any hospital attendant who attended him while he had that disease, to replace clothing destroyed by order of an officer* of the Medical Corps to prevent contagion.
