This section states two United States policies concerning African elephants. The United States will support conservation programs of African countries and the CITES Secretariat and provide money for those programs.
The policy of the United States* is:
(1) to help conserve and protect the African elephant* by supporting the conservation programs of African countries and the CITES* Secretariat; and
(2) to provide financial resources for those programs.
It is the policy of the United States*—
to assist in the conservation and protection of the African elephant* by supporting the conservation programs of African countries and the CITES* Secretariat; and
to provide financial resources for those programs.
