16 U.S.C. § 441c — Administration, protection, and promotion; franchises for hotel and lodge accommodations

This section puts the National Park Service, under the direction of the Secretary of the Interior, in charge of administering, protecting, and promoting Badlands National Park. The Park Service must run the park subject to the Act of August 25, 1916 — the law that created the National Park Service — as that law was later amended by the Act of June 2, 1920. There's an exception for the transition period. Before all the conditions for fully establishing the park (described in the surrounding sections) have been fulfilled, the Secretary of the Interior may still grant franchises — business licenses — for hotel and lodge accommodations, using the authority given in this section.
