16 U.S.C. § 460bbb–1 — Definitions

As used in this subchapter: (1) "Excluded area" means one of the four areas specifically excluded from the recreation area, as generally shown on the map referred to in section 460bbb–2(b). (2) "Forest plan" means the land and resource management plan for the Six Rivers National Forest, prepared under section 1604. (3) "Recreation area" means the Smith River National Recreation Area established by section 460bbb–2. (4) "Secretary" means the Secretary of Agriculture. (5) "Inner gorge" means the inherently unstable steep slope — a grade of 65 percent or more — immediately next to the stream or river channel, running from the channel or recent floodplain to the first significant break in slope (usually where the grade drops to around 15 percent or more, meaning the slope becomes noticeably gentler).
