16 U.S.C. § 8502 — Military Veterans Outdoor Recreation Liaisons

(a) In general. Within 1 year after January 4, 2025, the agencies in charge (the "Secretaries") and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs must each create, within their own departments, the position of Military Veterans Outdoor Recreation Liaison. (b) Duties. Each Liaison must (1) coordinate how this part of the law gets carried out; (2) put into action the recommendations made by the Task Force on Outdoor Recreation for Veterans, created under a 2020 law, including recommendations about (A) finding new ways for the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Agriculture, Department of the Interior, and partner organizations to coordinate on using federal recreational lands and waters to support veterans' health and wellness; (B) removing barriers that stop veterans from using outdoor recreation on federal lands and waters as part of their health and wellness care; and (C) helping federal recreational lands and waters be used to promote wellness and deliver health care and therapy for veterans; (3) coordinate with Military Veterans Outdoor Recreation Liaisons at other federal agencies and with veterans organizations; and (4) promote new and creative ways for veterans to enjoy outdoor recreation on federal recreational lands and waters.
