16 U.S.C. § 8504 — National strategy for military and veteran recreation

(a) Strategy. Within 1 year after January 4, 2025, the Federal Interagency Council on Outdoor Recreation must create and publish a strategy to get more members of the Armed Forces, veterans, and Gold Star Family members visiting federal recreational lands and waters. (b) Requirements. The strategy (1) must (A) set goals and measurable targets for increasing these visits; (B) give the public a chance to comment before it is finalized; (C) focus on creating more recreation opportunities for these groups on federal lands and waters; and (D) estimate the cost of meeting those goals and targets; and (2) must not favor either noncommercial or commercial providers of similar recreation over the other. (c) Update to strategy. Within 5 years after the strategy is first published, and every 5 years after that, the Council must update the strategy and publish the update.
