submitted 92 years ago by ch. 590 to r/title-19-CUSTOMS-DUTIES · 200 words · no verdicts yet

in plain englishAI-generated · not legal advice

A corporation applying to set up a foreign-trade zone must describe the proposed site, its planned facilities and costs, its construction timeline, and how it will pay for everything. The Board may allow amendments, and expanding an existing zone follows the same approval process as a new application.

(a) What an application must state. Each application must describe, in detail: the location and qualifications of the proposed zone area, including the land and water involved, how it will be separated from customs territory, its fitness for use as a zone, and room for it to expand; the facilities the applicant plans to build, their estimated cost, and any existing facilities it plans to use; the timeline for starting and finishing construction of the zone and its facilities; how the applicant plans to finance the project; and any other information the Board requires. (b) Amending an application; expanding a zone. The Board may allow an application to be amended, either on its own initiative or when asked. Expanding the area of an already-established zone must be approved the same way an original application is approved.
