36 U.S.C. § 130102 — Purposes

The corporation's purposes are: (1) To perpetuate the memory of the Grand Army of the Republic and of the men who saved the Union from 1861 to 1865. (2) To help, in every practical way, preserve and make available for research the documents and records about the Grand Army of the Republic and its members. (3) To cooperate in honoring everyone who served the country patriotically, in any way. (4) To teach patriotism, the duties of citizenship, the true history of the country, and love and honor for the flag. (5) To oppose any tendency or movement that would weaken loyalty to, destroy, or damage the constitutional Union. (6) To instill and broadly support the American principles of representative government, equal rights, and impartial justice for everyone.
