36 U.S.C. § 21103 — Purposes

The corporation's purposes come from its articles of incorporation, and include an ongoing national commitment to: (1) keep alive and grow the spirit that inspired world service; (2) maintain the bonds of fellowship born from that service, and support all patriotic work; (3) build a sense of individual duty to the community, state, and nation; (4) help veterans of World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam, and other strategic areas, and their dependents, file claims with the Department of Veterans Affairs, and aid in any way possible the men and women who served and died or were wounded or disabled during hostilities; (5) honor the memory of those whose lives were sacrificed in America's wars; (6) stay truly loyal to the United States; (7) teach lessons of patriotism and love of country in the communities where members live; (8) inspire respect for the Stars and Stripes in America's youth; (9) give needed help to all Gold Star Mothers and, when possible, to their descendants; and (10) promote peace and goodwill for the United States and all other nations.
