36 U.S.C. § 22704 — Governing body

(a) Delegates to National Conventions. Each local post can elect delegates to send to the corporation's national conventions. Each delegate gets one vote on business at the convention they attend. (b) Executive Committee. The executive committee has two kinds of members: (1) one elected member representing each department; and (2) the corporation's officers, who serve automatically because of their office (ex officio). (c) Officers. (1) The corporation's officers are a national commander, two national vice commanders, a finance officer, a judge advocate, a chaplain, six national district commanders, and a provost marshal. (2) The delegates elect these officers at the annual national convention. (d) Nondiscrimination. The rules for who can hold office cannot discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
