38 U.S.C. § 8231 — Declaration of purpose

This section is one undivided provision explaining this subchapter's purpose. It authorizes the Secretary^* to run a grant program that helps set up cooperative arrangements among many kinds of institutions affiliated with the Department^*: universities, colleges, junior colleges, community colleges, schools of allied health professions, state^* and local education systems, hospitals, and other nonprofit health manpower institutions. These arrangements are meant to coordinate, improve, and expand the training of professional and technical allied health and paramedical personnel. They are also meant to help develop and evaluate new health careers, new interdisciplinary approaches, and new career advancement opportunities — all so that the use of allied health and other health manpower can be improved and expanded.
