42 U.S.C. § 13285 — Reports to Congress

(a) Progress reports: The Secretary must report to Congress every year on how much progress the demonstration projects supported under this part are making toward speeding up the development and use of electric motor vehicles. (b) Report on encouraging purchase and use of electric motor vehicles: Within 18 months after October 24, 1992, the Secretary must give Congress a report on ways to encourage people to buy and use electric motor vehicles. That report must (1) address the likely cost of buying and maintaining electric motor vehicles, including the cost of the initial batteries and of replacement batteries; (2) identify ways to reduce, subsidize, or share those costs; and (3) recommend legislative and administrative steps to encourage buying and using electric motor vehicles.
