The Energy Secretary had to report to Congress on research challenges to increasing biodiesel's share of diesel fuel sold in the U.S. The National Institute of Standards and Technology must also make biodiesel's physical properties public.
(a) Biodiesel study. By June 16, 2008, the Secretary* — working with the Administrator* of the Environmental Protection Agency — had to send Congress a report on the research and development challenges involved in raising the share of U.S. diesel fuel that is biodiesel.
(b) Material for the establishment of standards. The Director* of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, working with the Secretary, must publicly share physical property data and characteristics of biodiesel and other biofuels, as appropriate.
Not later than 180 days after December 19, 2007, the Secretary*, in consultation with the Administrator* of the Environmental Protection Agency, shall submit to Congress a report on any research and development challenges inherent in increasing the proportion of diesel fuel sold in the United States that is biodiesel.
The Director* of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, in consultation with the Secretary, shall make publicly available the physical property data and characterization of biodiesel and other biofuels as appropriate.
