42 U.S.C. § 18776 — Expansion of international energy data

(a) In general
Within 1 year of November 15, 2021, the Administrator^* must expand and improve the Energy Information Administration's international energy data, to better understand: how countries produce and use energy; how international energy-use patterns are changing; the relative costs and environmental impacts of energy production and use around the world; and plans for, or construction of, major energy facilities and infrastructure abroad.

(b) Requirements
To do this, the Administrator must: work with, and use the data resources of, the International Energy Agency; include detail on energy consumption by fuel type, economic sector, and end use for countries where that data exists; collect relevant measures of energy use, including cost and emissions intensity; and provide tools letting users easily compare energy production and consumption between countries, across economic sectors and end uses.
