42 U.S.C. § 19033 — Reporting to Congress

(a) Report on resource needs. Within 180 days of August 9, 2022, the Director^* must send a report to the House Science Committee, the Senate Commerce Committee, and both chambers' Appropriations Committees. The report covers the resources and number of full-time employees needed to run the office created by section 19031 of this title.

(b) Annual report on Office activities. (1) In general: Starting one year after August 9, 2022, and every year after that, the Director must send Congress a report on what the Office of Research Security did. It must describe the Office's activities, including any administrative actions; give recommendations for new laws or administrative changes to improve research security; point out and discuss gaps in legal authority that need fixing to better protect colleges doing Foundation-funded research; and share information on Inspector General cases involving undue influence or security threats to Foundation-funded research, including theft of property or intellectual property from a Foundation-funded project^* at a college. (2) Form: The Director must submit this report in both an unclassified version and, where needed, a classified version.
