The Director must keep funding research on how research itself is done. This covers studies of research misconduct and other harmful research practices. Colleges and nonprofits can compete for these awards.
The Director* must continue making competitive awards to institutions of higher education or nonprofit organizations, including groups of them working together, to fund research about how research is conducted and about the research environment. This includes research on research misconduct, breaches of research integrity, and other harmful research practices*.
The Director* shall continue to make awards, on a competitive basis, to institutions of higher education or non-profit organizations (or consortia of such institutions or organizations) to support research on the conduct of research and the research environment, including research on research misconduct or breaches of research integrity and detrimental research practices*.
