42 U.S.C. § 300aa–5 — National Vaccine Advisory Committee

(a) This section creates the National Vaccine Advisory Committee. The Director of the Program appoints its members, after consulting the National Academy of Sciences. Members must be people who research vaccines, make vaccines, work as physicians, belong to parent organizations focused on immunization, or represent state or local health agencies or public health groups. (b) The Committee must: (1) study ways to encourage a steady supply of safe, effective vaccination products across the states, and recommend them; (2) recommend research priorities and other steps the Director should take to make vaccines safer and more effective; (3) advise the Director on carrying out sections 300aa–2, 300aa–3, and 300aa–4; and (4) tell the Director, every year, which areas of cooperation between government and non-government groups matter most for carrying out sections 300aa–2, 300aa–3, and 300aa–4.
