42 U.S.C. § 300j–18a — Annual study on boil water advisories

The EPA must study how often boil water advisories happen in the U.S. It must do this every year, starting within one year of November 15, 2021. Each year's results, including the reasons advisories were issued, go to Congress in the EPA's budget report.
(a) In general. Starting no later than 1 year after November 15, 2021, and every year after that, the EPA must study how common boil water advisories are across the United States.
(b) Report. The EPA must send Congress a report on the newest study's results as part of its annual budget request under section 1105(a) of title 31. That report must explain the reasons boil water advisories were issued during the year it covers.
Not later than 1 year after November 15, 2021, and annually thereafter, the Administrator* shall conduct a study on the prevalence of boil water advisories issued in the United States.
The Administrator shall submit to Congress a report describing the results of the most recent study conducted under subsection (a) as part of the annual budget request transmitted to Congress under section 1105(a) of title 31.
In the annual report required under paragraph (1), the Administrator shall include a description of the reasons for which boil water advisories were issued during the year covered by the report.
