42 U.S.C. § 300u–16 — Establishment of substance use disorder information dashboard

(a) In general: Within 6 months of October 24, 2018, the Secretary — consulting with the Director of National Drug Control Policy — must build, and keep updating, a public information dashboard on the Department of Health and Human Services website. The dashboard must: (1) link to information on Department of Health and Human Services programs that reduce opioid and other substance use disorders; (2) give access, as much as practical, to public data — which may come from Department of Health and Human Services agencies and from other federal agencies, state, local, and tribal governments, nonprofits, law enforcement, medical experts, public health educators, and research institutions — about prevention, treatment, recovery, and other services for these disorders; (3) show data on prevention and treatment strategies in different regions and populations of the United States; (4) list alternatives to controlled substances for pain management, such as approaches studied by the National Institutes of Health Pain Consortium, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, and other National Institutes of Health institutes and centers; and (5) list guidelines and best practices for providers treating substance use disorders. (b) Controlled substance defined: In this section, "controlled substance" has the same meaning as in section 802 of title 21.
