42 U.S.C. § 4024 — Coordination with other programs

The Administrator must consult Federal, interstate, State, and local agencies involved in flood control, forecasting, or prevention. The consultation must seek consistency between those agencies’ programs and the flood-insurance program.
In carrying out this chapter, the Administrator* must consult with other departments and agencies of the Federal Government, and with interstate, State*, and local agencies having responsibilities for flood control, flood forecasting, or flood damage prevention, in order to assure that the programs of such agencies and the flood insurance program authorized under this chapter are mutually consistent.
