This section establishes the Government Publishing Office’s Office of Inspector General. It lists the office’s audit, policy, and reporting purposes.
To create an independent and objective office, the Government Publishing Office has an Office of Inspector General. Its purposes are (1) to conduct and oversee audits and investigations concerning the Office; (2) to lead, coordinate, and recommend policies promoting economy, efficiency, and effectiveness; and (3) to keep the Director and Congress fully and currently informed about administrative and operational problems and deficiencies.
In order to create an independent and objective office—
to conduct and supervise audits and investigations relating to the Government Publishing Office;
to provide leadership and coordination and recommend policies to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness; and
to provide a means of keeping the Director of the Government Publishing Office and the Congress fully and currently informed about problems and deficiencies relating to the administration and operations of the Government Publishing Office;
there is hereby established an Office of Inspector General in the Government Publishing Office.
