This section lets either House order the printing of a document that is not already provided for by law when an estimate of its probable printing cost accompanies the order. Government offices responding to congressional inquiries must estimate the probable printing cost, but this section does not apply to reports or documents of 50 pages or fewer.
Either House may order the printing of a document that is not already provided for by law when the document is accompanied by an estimate from the Director of the Government Publishing Office of the probable cost. An executive department, bureau, board, or independent office of the Government that submits reports or documents in response to inquiries from Congress must include an estimate of the probable cost of printing the usual number of copies. This section does not apply to reports or documents that are 50 pages or fewer.
Either House may order the printing of a document not already provided for by law, when accompanied by an estimate from the Director of the Government Publishing Office as to the probable cost. An executive department, bureau, board, or independent office of the Government submitting reports or documents in response to inquiries from Congress shall include an estimate of the probable cost of printing to the usual number. This section does not apply to reports or documents not exceeding fifty pages.
