Each state must name one state officer or employee to serve as its chief election official, responsible for coordinating the state's duties under this voter registration law.
Each state* must designate a state officer or employee to be the chief state election* official. That person is responsible for coordinating everything the state must do under this chapter.
Each State* shall designate a State officer or employee as the chief State election* official to be responsible for coordination of State responsibilities under this chapter.
