10 U.S.C. § 20003 — Members: minimum service requirement as applied to Space Force

(a) Inapplicability of Active/Reserve Service Distinction — When applying the general minimum-service-requirement law (section 651 of this title) to someone who joins the Space Force, two parts of that law don't apply to them: the second sentence of its subsection (a), and all of its subsection (b) — both of which deal with serving in a reserve component. The Space Force doesn't have that kind of reserve component, so those parts don't fit. (b) Treatment Upon Transfer Out of Space Force — If a Space Force member transfers to a different armed force before finishing the minimum service that subsection (a) of section 651 requires, that transfer doesn't erase the requirement. The member becomes subject to section 651 in their new branch exactly as if they had first joined that branch instead of the Space Force.
