16 U.S.C. § 37 — Provision of feed and range facilities for game animals

This section lets the Secretary of the Interior create winter range and feeding grounds within specific townships (township 8 south, ranges 7 and 8 east, and township 9 south, ranges 7, 8, and 9 east, Montana principal meridian). The goal is to provide the winter range and feed facilities needed to properly protect, preserve, and propagate the elk, antelope, and other game animals of Yellowstone National Park and adjacent lands. The Secretary acts at his own discretion, subject to the limits described below, and is authorized to: (a) Accept private donations of funds for this purpose, deposit them in a special fund in the Treasury, and spend that fund on acquiring land as authorized here. (b) Acquire — by purchase, or by accepting a donation or bequest — private or State-owned land within the townships described above, whenever he judges it necessary to carry out the purpose of sections 37 to 40 of this title.
