10 U.S.C. § 20603 — Enlisted members: voluntary retirement for length of service

An enlisted Space Force member with at least 20 but less than 30 years of service may retire at their own request, under rules the Air Force Secretary sets. At 30 years or more, retirement on request is required.
(a) Twenty to Thirty Years. Under rules the Secretary of the Air Force sets, an enlisted Space Force member with at least 20, but less than 30, years of service (computed under section 20604) may retire if they ask.
(b) Thirty Years or More. An enlisted Space Force member with at least 30 years of service must be retired if they ask.
Under regulations to be prescribed by the Secretary of the Air Force, an enlisted member* of the Space Force who has at least 20, but less than 30, years of service computed under section 20604 of this title may, upon the member’s request, be retired.
An enlisted member of the Space Force who has at least 30 years of service computed under section 20604 of this title shall be retired upon the member’s request.
