10 U.S.C. § 334 — Administrative support and payment of certain expenses for covered foreign defense personnel

(a) In General — The Secretary of Defense may (1) give the United Nations Command administrative services and support so covered foreign defense personnel can do their jobs while assigned to the UN Command or the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission under the 1953 Korean War Armistice Agreement, and (2) pay the expenses listed in (b) for covered foreign personnel who are (A) from a developing country and (B) assigned to UN Command headquarters. (b) Types of Expenses — Under (a)(2), the Secretary may pay: (1) travel and subsistence costs tied to the personnel's assigned duties; (2) personal expenses directly tied to those duties; (3) medical care at a military medical facility; (4) medical care at a civilian facility, but only if adequate care isn't available at a local military facility, the Secretary decides paying is necessary and in the U.S.'s best interest, and no treaty or other agreement already covers the care; and (5) mission-related travel, but only if the travel directly supports U.S. national interests and the UN Command's Commander orders round-trip travel from UN Command headquarters to one or more locations. (c) Reimbursement — The Secretary can provide this support and pay these expenses whether or not the U.S. gets reimbursed. (d) Definitions — In this section: (1) "administrative services and support" covers things like base support services, facility use, office space and supplies, utilities, copying, computer and communication support, fire and police protection, postal and bank services, transportation, housing, specialized clothing, loaned equipment, storage, training, and repair and maintenance services; (2) "covered foreign defense personnel" means foreign military members assigned to the UN Command or the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission; (3) "developing country" has the meaning given in section 301(4); (4) the "Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission" means the Swedish and Swiss delegations (or their successors) named under the Korean War Armistice Agreement or later agreements; and (5) "United Nations Command" means the UN Command headquarters, its Military Armistice Commission, UN Command-Rear, and the UN Command Honor Guard.
